Field-Based Reflection

EDUC 5173 was another one of my favorite classes that I took as a MAT student. This course truly helped me to move from accepting diversity to embracing diversity and viewing it as something that is necessary in our world and lives. For this assignment, I reflected on my coursework and fieldwork and discussed the ways that I have grown personally and professionally as a result of the coursework and fieldwork in EDUC 5173. This assignment required me to describe how I would create a diversity-affirmative, culturally inclusive learning community in my own classroom by considering many issues; I touched on the ways that I and my students would respect diversity, how I would set up my classroom, how I would encourage communication and the curriculum I would use, and how I would assess my students. This assignment really helped me to see diversity as a benefit in the classroom and in the world, and it helped me to discovered new ways to incorporate and value diversity in the classroom to make it a risk-free environment.
