Teaching Philosophy

In the Fall of 2013, I took EDUC 5123 and had the opportunity to write a paper about my teaching philosophy by using several learning theories to help support it. All semester long, we had been exploring various learning theories, writing different papers/reviews about each, and using other research to support our statements. It was incredible to see how all of our work throughout the semester came together at the end to help us create and support our own philosophy of teaching. This assignment also forced me to focus on my own views of teaching, while focusing on the learning theories that I endorse. I loved how my professor set up this course and how she made everything tie together to make learning meaningful and to help us form connections between everything in the class. This assignment was very eye-opening for me because it helped me to realize how useful theories are to help explain different ways of doing things, in this case, teaching and learning.

 

I believe this paper helps to document my achievement of Proficiency One.
