Proficiency Four

Texas Learner-Centered Proficiency Four

While acting as an advocate for all students and the school, the teacher demonstrates effective professional and interpersonal communication skills.

Reflection

As an educator, it is my job to always act as an advocate for my school and its students, specifically the students in my classroom. A personal rule and goal for myself is to always demonstrate effective professional and interpersonal communication skills, no matter what setting I am in. Now that I am a teacher, I believe that this is something that I will always need to demonstrate, since I will be representing my school and the entire school district. I believe that when I act as an advocate for all students and the school and demonstrate professional and interpersonal communication skills, I am serving as a role model for all of the students that I come in contact with.

The two items that I have selected under Proficiency Four are two self-selected items that I felt were extremely fitting for this proficiency and how I mastered it. The first item that I selected is the “I Believe” Paragraph that I wrote in EDUC 5143, and the second item is the Domestic Violence Podcast that I created in FS 5913.20.  Both of these assignments show my ability to communicate effectively with technology. Both of these assignments demonstrate my effective professional and interpersonal communication skills, as well as how I act as an advocate for all students.
