Proficiency Two

Texas Learner-Centered Proficiency Two

 

To create a learner-centered community, the teacher collaboratively identifies needs and plans, implements, and assesses instruction using technology and other resources.

 

Reflection

 

It has been such a rewarding experience for me to see how much I have grown over the course of my time as a MAT student, specifically in planning and teaching lessons and managing the classroom. I believe that the lesson plans that I have created in my classes and as a student teacher show how competent I am in Proficiency Two. As a student teacher, I have received excellent observations from my supervisor on my lesson plans, delivery, activities, and use of technology to deliver instruction.

 

I feel that classroom management is also an area that I feel very competent in. I worked very hard in EDUC 5143 to create a classroom management plan that complements my teaching style and philosophy. This plan is something that I will use in my future classroom and refer back to when establishing classroom management. During one of my observations, my supervisor stated “Mrs. Johnson demonstrated a strong command of the classroom while creating a risk-free learning environment,” which is something every teacher would love to hear.
